I was placed at St Cuthbert’s by an organisation called Careforce, who do this sort of thing. They connect Christian volunteers and volunteering opportunities such as churches and social care agencies. It looks after the nuts and bolts of placing and maintaining people, and continues to give a degree of training once people have started their placements.
Careforce is a great organisation, and it is also a charity. It doesn’t exist to make money, but it does need money to run. Because of this, I’m raising money for them this year. If you do want to donate, you can do it online at My Charity Page. Careforce only places people in the UK, so your money won’t be spent on buying the plane ticket to Machu Pichu for some gap year student to plant trees, but on actually enabling people to help transform their communities, in the name of their beliefs.
